About CarSeatTopBest
CarSeatTopBest answers the questions parents actually get stuck on: is a car seat required here, is my child old enough to move up, is the harness set correctly, and will this seat fit my car. We do not review, rank, or sell seats.
Why we exist
Most car seat content online is a ranking of products. But the problem in the car is rarely the product. Certified technicians keep finding the same things: a harness one slot too low, straps loose enough to pinch, a chest clip on the belly, a child moved forward-facing months before they needed to be. And when parents do look for the rule instead of the product, they hit a wall of jargon and outdated group numbers that no longer match anything printed on the box. We built CarSeatTopBest to answer the rule and the check, not the purchase.
How we research
Every requirement, age, measurement and penalty on this site is traced to a primary source — the European regulation text, national road traffic law, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or the American Academy of Pediatrics — and carries the date we last checked it. If we cannot find the source, the claim does not get published. Rules change and we would rather show you where to verify us than ask you to trust us.
What we cover
- Rules and standards: what the current and the older approval standards require, and what each country adds on top
- Readiness: when a child may turn forward-facing, move to a booster, or use the front seat
- Setup: harness height and tension, recline angle, chest clip, expiry dates
- Fit: whether a seat works in your specific car, how it attaches, and three seats across a back seat
- Travel: flights, taxis, rental cars, and the rules in another country
What we deliberately do not do
We publish no “best car seat” rankings and no reviews of seats we have not tested ourselves. A review written from a spec sheet is an opinion dressed as expertise, and in a product that holds a child in a crash that is not a harmless shortcut. Where the honest answer is a verifiable fact, we publish the fact and cite it. Where the honest answer is “check your own manual,” we say that instead of inventing a step.

Our articles are a starting point, not a replacement for the instructions that come with your seat and vehicle.
